Manuela Valletti, editor of the Milan, Italy-based Cyberdogs Magazine. We asked Ms. Valletti to share her thoughts (in English and her native Italian) on what motivates her to publish a dog magazine.

With Giovanna as art director, and myself as editor, we have begun our adventure. In only a short time, our publishing project has become a success. We received numerous dog photos for our first contest and our foreign readers insisted on an English version of the magazine. Our English is not perfect, but we chose to "dare" to satisfy our readers, hoping they would forgive us a few grammatical errors. We soon found that was the right decision.

Over the past few months, our newspaper has grown: now we have an online Forum (in Italian and English), two weekly ezines (Vet News and Training News) that enable us to answer all the letters our vet and trainer receive. And both Italian and foreigners writers are happy to collaborate with us. We have inaugurated a &quotCLUB of the ART" where we showcase the work of artists who choose dogs as their subject. In this Club, you will find all styles of art. We have a weekly news sector update, two contests (one for Christmas called &quotKids Design Pets" and a &quotphotoshow"), a rescue sector to help dogs in need, humor columns, and more.

The job of publishing Cyberdogs Magazine is demanding, but we approach it enthusiastically. When we look at Rhoda and we feel full of tenderness for her, we know that the Magazine is an excellent tool for sharing some of our happiness with others.

Se ci chiedete chi è il responsabile della nascita di Cyberdogs Magazine, noi dobbiamo rispondervi:Rhoda la nostra dolcissima Schnauzer Gigante di tre anni.E' stato il grande amore che mia figlia Giovanna ed io abbiamo per lei a darci l'idea di creare una giornale che parlasse al cuore degli amanti dei cani. Lo scorso gennaio questa idea si è concretizzata, abbiamo cercato e trovato bravissimi collaboratori che hanno condiviso da subito la nostra linea editoriale, tra questi un veterinario molto in gamba ed un eccellente educatore cinofilo.

Con Giovanna, come Art Director e io stessa come editore abbiamo cominciato la nostra avventura. Ci siamo subito resi conto che avremmo avuto successo. Le foto per il nostro concorso fotografico erano moltissime e molti lettori stranieri ci chiedevano di tradurre il giornale in inglese. Il nostro inglese non è perfetto, ma abbiamo deciso di &quotosare" per far contenti i nostri lettori. E' stata la scelta giusta.

Negli ultimi mesi il nostro giornale è cresciuto: ora abbiamo un Forum on line (in italiano e in inglese, due e-zine settimanali (Vet News e Training News) che permettono al veterinario e all'educatore di rispondere a tutte le lettere che ricevono. Scrittori Italiani e stranieri sono contenti di collaborare con noi. Abbiamo inaugurato un CLUB dell'ARTE, dove presentiamo i lavori di artisti che hanno scelto il cane come loro soggetto. In questo Club, potete trovare tutti gli stili di arte. Abbiamo anche un settore per le notizie, aggiornato settimanalmente e due concorsi: uno per il prossimo Natale &quotI Bambini disegnano gli animali" e il Photoshow, un settore per le Associazioni che aiutano i cani in difficoltà, humor, e molto altro ancora.

Il lavoro di pubbllicazione del Giornale è molto gravoso, ma noi lo facciamo con entusiasmo. Quando guardiamo Rhoda e ci sentiamo pieni di tenerezza per lei, noi sappiamo che il Magazine è uno strumento eccellente per trasmettere un po' della nostra felicità agli altri.
