Maynard's Favorites
Here are some of the sites where Maynard and his online friends like to hang out.
Return to Dog Links Home.
American Kennel Club
This site is the online home of the AKC, the principal registry of purebred dogs. Go here to find out about registering your dog, dog breeds, clubs, and other tidbits for purebred dog enthusiasts.
ASPCA
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has an excellent site with lots of information and tips for pet owners. We're particularly impressed with their new Ani-Med hotline, which you can call to get answers to important pet care questions.
Cool Dog Site of the Day
Takashi Ito promotes some of the best dog sites on the Internet on Dogmark, and gives you the opportunity to vote for the best sites of the month. Don't unless you have lots of time. It's addictive. (Two Dog Press was selected as "Cool Dog Site of the Day" on February 4, 1998!)
Dogtoys.com
If your dog has a weakness for toys (or you have a weakness for giving your dog toys), you'll want to visit dogtoys.com to browse through their wonderful selection of toys, including toys by breed selected by dog lovers, a toy search engine that helps you find just the right gift, and all kinds of seasonal specials.
HomeVet© Medical Center
Our friend Dr. Jeff Feinman has a web gold mine of information about caring for your pet. Dr. Jeff specializes in natural health care and has an online forum where you can ask medical questions about your pets.
LABMED
LABMED is an internet-based organization that raises funds to help rescued Labrador Retrievers in need of medical treatment. Visit their site to read about dogs they've saved and find out how you can help. They also have a great cookbook and a recently published collection of Lab stories, poems, and illustrations, titled Labrador Tales.
The Mining Co. Guide to Dogs
If you're new to the dog web scene, this is a great place to start. On this site, you'll find intriguing articles, stories, tips, links, and chats, and other cool stuff--all about dogs. When you visit, subscribe to Gene's online newsletter, Dog Bytes.
Perry Greene Kennel & Outfitters
There are lots of reasons to visit Perry Greene Kennel & Outfitters online: wonderful pictures of Leonbergers (a rare breed), information on and equipment for dog sledding and skijor (think cross country skiing powered by dog), and details about their caring boarding facility in mid-coast Maine. Owners Martha and Rick are also active in rescue.
San Francisco SPCA
The San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has enabled San Francisco to do what no other city in the U.S. has: it guarantees that no adoptable dog or cat will be euthanized. The SFSPCA is a shining example of how animal rescue and humane organizations should work. Visit this site to learn how they do it -- and find out about the programs and services they offer.
